Compare the finished furniture
A conventional sofa may have a rigid frame, springs, separate cushions, and a higher seat; a compressed option may be foam-forward or modular. Neither construction is inherently superior. Compare the actual support system, upholstery, seat depth, and serviceability. Ask whether individual cushions or covers can be replaced.
Compare the route home
Sketch the tightest turn from curb to room. A traditional sofa might require scheduled freight or white-glove delivery; a boxed sofa can sometimes arrive as parcels, but heavy boxes still need lifting. If you move often, consider whether the expanded product disassembles. A one-time easy delivery does not guarantee an easy second move.
Buy for years of sitting, then choose the delivery method that can realistically get it into your home.
