Work with the nap
Dust and crumbs can settle between channels. Vacuum gently along the direction of the ridges with a suitable attachment and avoid grinding debris across the surface. A soft brush may be appropriate only if the maker allows it. Check how the fabric changes shade when brushed in the other direction.
Handle stains by code
Blot fresh spills and use only the approved cleaning method for that upholstery. Rubbing can flatten the pile or create a visibly different patch. Allow damp areas to dry fully and inspect in natural light. If the cover is removable, confirm whether it can truly be laundered.
A few minutes of gentle upkeep can preserve both the texture and the sofa's even color.
