A color choice has to survive real light and real use.
View it at home
Screens and studio photographs can misrepresent undertones. Order a swatch when possible and see it in morning and evening light, next to your flooring and curtains. A cream fabric may be warm or cool; a navy may nearly read black at night. Texture changes the perception too.
Think past the showroom
A pale sofa can be lovely with a workable care routine; a dark sofa can show lint and pet hair. Consider whether the room needs contrast or a quiet anchor. If the sofa is a long-term purchase, choose a color you can style through changing rugs and pillows rather than chasing a short trend.
The practical color is the one you still like in your own room after several kinds of daylight.
