Read the label closely
Some covers are designed for machine washing; others unzip only for construction or professional cleaning. Check water temperature, drying method, and whether the cover can be put back over expanded foam. Shrinkage can make reassembly difficult. If the listing is vague, ask the seller before removing anything.
Plan the whole process
Photograph the fitted cover before removal, follow the maker's sequence, and allow it to dry fully. Avoid high heat unless explicitly permitted. If only spot cleaning is approved, use the correct code and test a hidden area. Never soak the foam core simply because the cover came off.
Removable and washable are different promises; verify both before buying.
