Follow the manufacturer's code for deeper cleaning rather than applying a generic schedule to every material.
Respond to events
Blot spills promptly and check instructions before treating them. If you notice odor or discoloration, investigate the cause instead of repeatedly soaking the area. Loose covers may have their own washing limits. Record professional cleaning if warranty terms require it, and avoid cleaners the maker excludes.
A consistent light routine is usually easier than waiting until the sofa needs a major rescue.
