Use a sofa to define a room without building a wall.
Float with purpose
A sofa placed off the wall can mark the living zone and face a focal point. Leave a usable path behind it and consider how the back looks from the kitchen or dining area. A low, finished back is easier to float than a tall sofa with visible unfinished details.
Anchor the zone
A rug and side table can make the arrangement feel intentional. Check outlets for lamps and keep a sensible route around the corners. If the apartment is narrow, a wall placement may still be the cleanest option. Do not force a floating layout that leaves only a cramped corridor.
The best placement makes the living area legible without sacrificing the routes through it.
