Flexibility depends on the pieces, not the word modular.
Inspect the modules
Find each module's dimensions, weight, and connector method. Does the arrangement truly change sides, or does one chaise lock it in? Are backs and arms finished on all sides? Can a damaged module be purchased separately? Map at least two arrangements in your room.
Check day-to-day stability
Sections should not drift apart during normal use. Ask whether connectors require tools and whether you can move the modules safely after assembly. A modular set may be ideal for a changing apartment, yet many small pieces can cost more and create more seams than one sofa. Compare total interior seating.
A modular sofa is flexible only when its pieces are usable in the arrangements you actually need.
