A few measurements prevent expensive surprises.
Map the footprint
Record the wall, window, outlet, radiator, and door-swing positions. Note the planned sofa width and depth with painter's tape. Leave enough space to walk past and use nearby furniture; try the route yourself instead of trusting a generic clearance number. Measure from finished baseboard to baseboard where the sofa will sit.
Map the approach
Measure the narrowest doorway and hallway, ceiling height at turns, elevator opening, and stair landing. Compare with each parcel and, for future moves, the largest expanded section. A diagonal turn needs more than a simple width comparison. Photograph tricky corners and ask the seller for module dimensions if the listing is vague.
A room measurement is incomplete until the sofa's path into and out of that room is measured too.
