A sectional is not always the space-saving choice it appears to be.

Test the corner

A compact L-shape can use an otherwise awkward corner and let two people put their feet up. It can also block a door or make rearranging impossible. Measure the chaise projection and which side it must occupy. Reversible chaise designs deserve a close look at how the change actually works.

Consider change over time

A sofa plus ottoman can provide a similar lounge position and move independently for guests or a later apartment. Modular sectionals are flexible only if pieces disconnect and fit through the future route. Compare actual seating width and floor coverage rather than the name 'small sectional.'

Choose a sectional for a stable layout; choose separate pieces when flexibility matters more.
