A low silhouette can be beautiful but harder to use.
Use your own reference
Measure from floor to the top of the seat on a sofa or chair you enjoy. Compare that with the listed seat height, remembering soft foam compresses when someone sits. Think about older guests, people with mobility limitations, and whether you tend to perch at the edge.
Check the whole movement
When you test a sofa, sit, lean back, and stand without pushing on a fragile arm. If shopping online, ask for a seated photo with a person of known approximate height or a clear dimension diagram. A very low, deep seat can make standing more demanding even if the cushion feels soft.
Choose an entry and exit that feels good, not only a profile that looks good from across the room.
